Can You Just Not works without an account. There is no sign-up, no email address, no password, and no connection to any social or advertising account.

What identifies you

The first time the app runs it generates a random UUID and stores it on the phone. That UUID is sent with every request to the server and is the only thing tying your items to you. It is not derived from your device's hardware identifiers, and it is not shared with anyone. Delete the app and the UUID goes with it; a fresh install starts over as a new, unrelated user.

What is stored

• The items you create — their text, their check-in interval, and when you made them.
• Every check-in, including the time since your previous one and, if you were late, by how much.
• Aggregate counters per item: total time sustained, total time missed, current and longest streak, number of check-ins.
• App usage events: when the app comes to the foreground and goes to the background, when you open the list, when you open an item's detail view, when you edit or delete an item, and when you use the Share button (including which destination you chose and whether you went through with it).
• Technical details sent at registration: app version, iOS version, device model, and your time-zone offset.
• Your Apple push notification token, if you allow notifications, and a record of each notification sent and whether it was opened.

This is a deliberately detailed record. The app is built around the history of a habit over time, and that history is what makes the statistics and the streaks work.

What is not stored

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact detail.
• Your location.
• Your contacts, photos, calendar, health data, or anything else from the rest of your phone.
• Any advertising identifier.

Deleting an item

Deleting an item removes it from your list but keeps its history on the server, so long-term statistics stay intact. If you want an item's history gone as well, see the section below.

Sharing

Nothing is sent to any third party. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no trackers in the app. The one exception is Apple's push notification service, which necessarily receives the text of a notification in order to deliver it.

The Share button hands text to whichever app you pick from the iOS share sheet. What happens to it after that is governed by that app's own privacy policy, not this one.

Where it lives

Your data is stored in a MySQL database on a server operated by the developer, reached over HTTPS. It is not sold, rented, or shared.

Deleting everything

Email support@canyoujustnot.app from any address with the word "delete" and your device ID, and everything tied to that ID will be removed from the database. The app shows your device ID nowhere by design — if you need it, ask and we'll walk you through finding it. Deleting the app from your phone also orphans the data permanently, since nothing else can reproduce that UUID.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects nothing that would identify one.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
